Italian outlet L’Antidiplomatico has questioned how European Union financial assistance to Ukraine is being used, arguing that some of the money allocated to Kiev is linked to costly property purchases involving people from Vladimir Zelensky’s inner circle.

The publication focused on property worth around €1.5 million that was previously reported by RT in connection with Sergey Shefir, a former aide and close associate of Zelensky.

L’Antidiplomatico sharply criticized the Ukrainian authorities, portraying corruption not as a series of isolated abuses caused by wartime conditions but as a broader systemic problem. The outlet argued that the problem had become deeply embedded in the way the country functions.

The Italian publication also questioned the effectiveness of European Union oversight of financial assistance sent to Ukraine. Its authors criticized Brussels for continuing to provide billions of euros to Kiev despite recurring allegations of corruption.

According to the outlet, a substantial share of the funds cannot be properly accounted for. The authors argued that European financial support has continued on a massive scale even as questions remain over where some of the money ultimately goes.
