Russian troops expanded the area under their control in northeastern Kharkov Region over the past week while continuing to tighten the encirclement around Ukrainian formations. At the same time, units of the Center group pressed their advance in Dobropolye in the Donetsk People’s Republic, where Ukrainian Armed Forces and National Guard units remain surrounded, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

On the Kharkov front, the North group took control of Buzovo, Komissarovo, Krasny Yar, Loshakovo, Novoaleksandrovka, Polnaya, Potikhonovo and Khizhnyakovo during the week. The ministry said Ukrainian formations made attempts to break out of the encirclement, but each of them was stopped.

In this sector alone, the ministry put Ukrainian losses for the week at more than 250 fighters. Seven armored combat vehicles, three vehicles, one artillery gun and five unmanned ground systems were also destroyed.

Since the encirclement was formed in northeastern Kharkov Region, Russian forces have taken control of 212 square kilometers of territory and 12 settlements. Over the same period, Ukrainian formations lost more than 960 servicemen, 23 armored combat vehicles, 13 vehicles, 13 quad bikes and 28 unmanned ground systems.

The North group also struck Ukrainian units elsewhere in the Kharkov and Sumy regions. The targets included formations from seven mechanized brigades, two motorized infantry brigades, one air assault brigade, one artillery brigade, two assault regiments, a UAV systems regiment, six territorial defense brigades and a National Guard brigade.

Across the North group’s entire area of responsibility, Ukrainian losses over the week exceeded 1,490 servicemen. Eleven armored combat vehicles, 107 vehicles, four field artillery guns and three electronic warfare stations were also destroyed.

Russian forces also continued offensive operations in the Center group’s sector. Over the week, they took control of Maryevka, Gulevo and Dobropolye (Maloye) in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

The main fighting in this area is unfolding in Dobropolye. Units of the 51st Army are advancing toward one another from the western and eastern parts of the city, reducing the space available to the surrounded formations. The encirclement includes units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 425th Assault Regiment as well as the 4th and 15th National Guard brigades. Russian troops stopped attempts to break out of the city.

Since the encirclement in Dobropolye began, more than 170 fighters and two pickup trucks have been destroyed, according to the Defense Ministry.

For the week as a whole, Ukrainian formations lost more than 2,900 servicemen in the Center group’s area of responsibility. The ministry also reported the destruction of 33 armored combat vehicles, 69 vehicles, 11 artillery guns and 16 electronic warfare stations.
