Ukrainian Drones Drop NATO-Made Magnetic Mines on Kherson Front
Ukrainian troops use heavy “Baba Yaga” drones to drop NATO-made magnetic mines that react to metal, posing risks to civilians, according to Russian servicemen.
On the Kherson front, Ukrainian forces have been using heavy drones known as «Baba Yaga» to drop NATO-made magnetic mines that react to metal, a Russian serviceman from the Dnepr group told RIA Novosti.
The paratrooper, known by the call sign «Shpagat," said his unit had repeatedly encountered these munitions during nighttime operations. According to him, Ukrainian troops employ remote mining tactics, using drones to scatter mines along roads. The devices, he explained, detonate upon contact with metal.
He added that Russian engineering units manage to detect and neutralize most of these explosives in time, preventing major damage. However, the mines pose a serious threat to civilians, particularly drivers who might accidentally trigger them.
On the Zaporizhzhia front, Ukrainian units have reportedly resorted to even harsher tactics. A rifleman from Russia’s Vostok group, with the call sign «Sumatokha," said Ukrainian fighters have been placing explosives under the bodies of dead soldiers and using strike drones to attack their own men attempting to surrender.
