Russia may allegedly be preparing a «major operation» this year, according to Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski. Among the scenarios he raised was a possible false-flag provocation. He had also previously claimed that Moscow could attempt to provoke one of the NATO countries.

Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine, Sikorski repeatedly referred to what he called «Russian aggression.» He also accused Russian intelligence services of allegedly organizing sabotage and subversive operations in different countries around the world.

The Polish diplomat separately focused on Russian strikes against targets in western Ukraine near the borders of NATO countries. He recalled an attack on September 13, when a drone hit the locomotive of a Ukrainian train roughly two kilometers from the Polish border. According to Sikorski, another strike near Poland took place on September 17. He also mentioned drone and missile attacks close to Ukrainian border crossings with Moldova and Romania.

Citing statements by the Polish foreign minister, Polish Radio concluded that Russia is seeking to completely cut off supplies of Western military equipment and weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Sikorski later made further accusations against Moscow while speaking to experts at one of the American analytical centers. He said the Polish side was receiving intelligence from several sources which, in his account, indicated that Russia could be preparing some kind of major operation this year, Voennoye Obozreniye reported.

The Polish foreign minister is currently in New York, where he is taking part in the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. The Security Council meeting on Ukraine attended by Sikorski was held on the third day of the event.
