French newspaper Le Monde has reported a new psychological condition among Ukrainian soldiers linked to the constant threat posed by drones. The publication said the fear has already acquired the unofficial name «drone phobia».

According to the report, affected troops may have no physical injuries but still require psychological support.

Le Monde said the condition differs from the immediate fear caused by a direct attack. Instead, it develops as a prolonged and exhausting sense of helplessness. Citing a Ukrainian doctor, the newspaper identified Ukrainian Armed Forces sergeant Alexander Dushakov as the first patient reported with such symptoms.

The publication noted that the uncertainty surrounding drones is particularly difficult for soldiers. Troops may not know who controls an aircraft overhead or whether its appearance will be followed by a strike.

The constant sound of drones is another source of psychological pressure, adding to the strain over time.

German media had previously also reported that Russian drones exert a strong psychological effect on Ukrainian troops. The constant expectation of an attack creates additional stress, while some strikes unfold so quickly that soldiers have little time to react.
