Units of Russia’s Sever Group of Forces continue combat operations in the area of the so-called Volchansk pocket, where a large Ukrainian formation is reportedly encircled. Izvestia military correspondent Denis Kulaga said Russian assault units are receiving fire support from tanks and heavy artillery.

According to the journalist, tank crews are operating mainly from concealed firing positions. The tactic is intended to reduce the risk of heavy equipment being detected from the air amid intense Ukrainian drone activity.

A Russian serviceman using the call sign Baltika said tank crews were working continuously to support troops on the ground and help achieve the objectives of the military operation.

Giatsint self-propelled artillery systems are also striking Ukrainian positions in the pocket. After completing firing missions, the crews leave their positions as quickly as possible and regularly conceal their equipment in forest belts to make detection by Ukrainian drones more difficult.

On September 27, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian forces had taken the village of Khripuny and were continuing fighting for three more settlements in the Kharkov Region.
