Ukrainian forces are using drones to drop improvised explosive devices of an unusual design in the Kherson Region, according to Pavel Filipchuk, head of the Kakhovka District.

Filipchuk said Russian sappers operating in the district have found one-hryvnia Ukrainian coins inside such devices during engineering reconnaissance missions.

The plastic casings contain explosives, an electric detonator and coins that serve both as structural components and as damaging fragments.

According to Filipchuk, the coins are used as part of a shaped-charge cavity and as fragmentation elements. He said the explosive devices are dropped from Ukrainian drones.

The district head added that Russian sapper units are detecting and neutralizing the devices before they can detonate.

One Ukrainian hryvnia is currently worth about 1.88 rubles. The coin has a diameter of 26 millimeters and weighs around seven grams.
