Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Rassvet satellite system is expected to operate more effectively in the near future.

Speaking to journalist Pavel Zarubin, Peskov said the system still needs time to reach effective operation and expressed hope that this would happen as soon as possible.

Rassvet is being developed by Bureau 1440. The project is built around a network of low-Earth-orbit satellites designed to provide broadband internet access. The stated connection speed is up to 1 Gbit/s per user terminal, with signal latency of up to 70 milliseconds.

The first batch of 16 Bureau 1440 satellites was launched into orbit on March 24. The company plans dozens of additional launches to create global coverage, with commercial service scheduled to begin in 2027.

The satellites operate in low Earth orbit at an altitude of about 800 kilometers.

Bloomberg has previously compared Rassvet with SpaceX’s Starlink. According to the outlet, the Russian project follows a similar concept and is also intended to provide internet access through a low-orbit satellite network.
