RT has aired a report on the work of Russian mobile fire teams operating in the Zaporozhye direction, where they face large-scale Ukrainian drone raids on a daily basis.

According to the report, these mobile units have become one of the main tools used by Russian forces to counter Ukrainian drones. Their duties include protecting critical infrastructure, escorting civilian cargo and military equipment, and monitoring the airspace along roads and frontline supply routes.

A mobile fire team typically operates a paired automatic-weapon system manned by a two-person crew. Russian servicemen often have only a few seconds to detect an approaching drone and open fire.

One Russian soldier explained that the teams avoid positioning themselves in a single line when drones approach. Instead, they spread out along the route so that if one crew fails to hit a target, another can engage it further along its path.

Russian servicemen featured in the report also said Ukrainian troops tend to avoid direct engagements and instead rely heavily on cover and unmanned systems.
