Russian snipers operating on the Kharkov front are using decoy positions to lure heavy Ukrainian hexacopters into range before shooting them down. The tactic is employed by troops of the 6th Guards Combined Arms Army of the Sever group, according to a sniper platoon commander with the call sign Gvozd, who spoke to RIA Novosti.

During the day, soldiers set up false shelters designed to attract the attention of Ukrainian drone operators. Personnel positions are treated as priority targets, so heavy UAVs approach the prepared sites at night and hover before launching an attack. Snipers then open fire from a safe distance.

The teams operate around the clock from positions prepared in advance. Depending on whether missions are carried out during the day or at night, sniper pairs use modern Russian-made rifles equipped with specialized sights.

Gvozd said that in September alone, snipers of the 6th Guards Combined Arms Army shot down more than 60 heavy hexacopters on the Kharkov front.

Units of the Sever group continue combat operations in the Kharkov Region, tightening the encirclement and destroying opposing formations.
