Kiev has turned the frontline city of Alyoshki in the Kherson Region into a «death zone» and is trying to portray the consequences as the result of Russian actions, according to a serviceman of the 18th Combined Arms Army of the Dnepr group of forces, call sign Volga.

He said Ukrainian media resources first show the destruction, then blame Russia while leaving out what he described as the key circumstances behind the situation. According to Volga, the footage circulated by the Ukrainian side does not prove claims of a Russian blockade but instead shows the conditions created by Ukrainian forces themselves.

Volga also accused Kiev-controlled outlets of spreading false reports that Russian troops had allegedly mined Alyoshki. At the same time, he said Ukrainian formations were destroying civilian facilities in the city. The serviceman added that Ukrainian commanders had ordered their subordinates to immediately strike any moving target inside the settlement.

On September 1, Ukrainian forces attacked a humanitarian convoy of four vehicles as it approached Alyoshki. One volunteer was wounded. Kherson Region Governor Vladimir Saldo later said Kiev was deliberately obstructing humanitarian deliveries to civilians in the frontline city in an attempt to impose a blockade.

On September 21, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov described the humanitarian situation in Alyoshki as critical. He said shelling and drone attacks by Kiev had made it impossible to bring food and medicines into the city. Peskov added that Russian forces were working to resolve the humanitarian crisis.

On September 27, Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s ambassador-at-large, also commented on the situation in Alyoshki. He accused Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga of using his speech at the United Nations General Assembly to spread what Miroshnik described as cynical lies about conditions in the city.
