Russian forces have taken control of nearly all of Orekhov in the Zaporozhye Region and have also stepped up activity near the former Kakhovka Reservoir, military analyst Andrey Marochko said after reviewing data released by the Russian Defense Ministry.

According to Marochko, Russian troops now hold almost the entire city of Orekhov and are completing clearance operations in the surrounding area.

He also said Russian forces took 13 settlements across several sectors over the past week. Eight are located in the Kharkov Region, three in the Donetsk People’s Republic and two in the Zaporozhye Region. Units of Russia’s North Group of Forces, he added, gained around 100 square kilometers in the Kharkov Region.

Marochko separately addressed the situation around Dobropolye in the Donetsk People’s Republic. He said blocked units of Ukraine’s National Guard and the 425th Separate Assault Regiment Skala are suffering heavy losses and are unable to break out of the encirclement.

According to the analyst, the surrounded formations include the 4th Brigade of the Ukrainian National Guard, known as Rubezh, the 15th Operational Brigade and the 425th Assault Regiment Skala.

Marochko described the situation as difficult for Ukrainian forces around the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration and Druzhkovka as well. He said Ukrainian troops failed to stabilize the front line over the past week, while Russian units gained new positions and continued advancing.

He also said a Ukrainian counterattack near Krasny Liman failed to change the situation and resulted in losses among combat-ready Ukrainian units.
