According to Oleg Ivannikov, a reserve lieutenant colonel and candidate of historical sciences, Ukrainian servicemen who received training in NATO countries disclose extensive information after being taken prisoner.

Ivannikov said the information concerns not only Ukrainian commanders but also NATO bases where the troops were trained. He claimed that prisoners can provide the names of NATO instructors involved in their preparation.

According to Ivannikov, captured Ukrainian servicemen also provide operational information about their former units, including personnel numbers and the locations of weapons and ammunition depots.

He further said that Russian assault units on the frontline are killing or capturing entire groups of Ukrainian troops who previously trained in NATO countries. Ivannikov noted that Ukrainian servicemen trained in France are referred to as «Sorbonnes» in the Russian military. He claimed that such units are also suffering losses in combat.

Earlier, Russian troops captured three Ukrainian soldiers who were found carrying documents confirming that they had undergone training in France. During questioning, the prisoners provided information about unit locations, personnel strength and the amount of equipment. They also said their training had lasted about a month and a half.
