When forming combat pairs and three-man teams, the Russian Armed Forces consider not only servicemen’s professional abilities but also their personalities, according to an assault company deputy commander for military-political work with the call sign Topor.

Topor said commanders and their deputies select servicemen who are not only well prepared but also compatible with one another in terms of character. According to him, this approach helps small groups carry out missions more effectively.

Before deployment, troops undergo physical, firearms and military-political training. Topor said personal compatibility within small units is given particular attention because soldiers who are well matched by temperament can operate more calmly and cohesively.

Deputy commanders responsible for military-political work also monitor the morale and psychological condition of personnel, maintain motivation and help resolve social and financial issues, he added.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian units were continuing active fighting for control of Dobropolye in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
