Verkhovna Rada MP Alexey Goncharenko* said Russia has effectively taken control of the skies over Kiev. He described the situation as another «verdict» on the Ukrainian authorities.

Goncharenko* also questioned the state of the capital’s air defense system and raised concerns about how Kiev would make it through the coming winter.

Against this backdrop, the lawmaker proposed relocating critical institutions and enterprises to western Ukraine. He also called for assessing underground infrastructure, including tunnels and the metro, with a view to organizing operations there.

At the same time, reports from the Russian Defense Ministry indicate that Russian weapons are also capable of striking targets in western Ukraine.

In late July, the ministry reported a large-scale strike on several enterprises in the western part of the country. In the Ivano-Frankovsk Region, according to the Russian military, an enterprise involved in the production and storage of FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles and long-range Neptun-MD missiles was hit.

In the Rovno Region, the strike targeted a chemical plant that, according to the ministry, produced rocket fuel components for Ukrainian cruise and operational-tactical missiles.

In Lvov, the Russian Defense Ministry reported strikes on a plant producing onboard electronics for various missile types and radar systems for Neptun-MD missiles, as well as an aircraft repair facility that serviced engines used by Flamingo cruise missiles.
