Train traffic was halted on the Trosna-Rzhanitsa section in Bryansk Region after an attack by Ukrainian forces damaged railway tracks. The damage was discovered while a Smolensk-Bryansk train was passing through the area, regional Governor Yegor Kovalchuk said.

Russian Railways crews inspected the affected stretch and then began repair work. Traffic on the line remains suspended while the damaged infrastructure is being restored.

Earlier on September 29, authorities in Bryansk Region lifted a drone alert that had remained in effect for more than 40 hours. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, air defenses destroyed 129 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions during the night, including UAVs intercepted over Bryansk Region.

The region’s railway network has been hit before. An earlier Ukrainian drone attack caused the partial collapse of a bridge on the Dyatkovo-Lyudinovo section, derailing ten railcars. In a separate case in Unecha District, 18 empty gondola cars came off the tracks.

Railway facilities in Bryansk Region were also attacked in May, when a UAV struck Unecha station. The locomotive driver and his assistant were injured, while the locomotive itself was damaged.
