Servicemen of Ukraine’s 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade have reportedly begun demanding that commanders pull them back from the frontline in the Dnepropetrovsk Region, with heavy losses and a shortage of personnel cited as the main reasons.

TASS reported the claim, citing an unnamed representative of Russian security agencies. According to the source, the brigade’s troops are seeking withdrawal because of mounting casualties and insufficient manpower.

The same source said positions held by the Ukrainian paratroopers are being regularly struck with FAB high-explosive aerial bombs. Over the past 24 hours alone, the 79th Air Assault Brigade allegedly lost the equivalent of at least two squads.

Units of the brigade are currently operating east of Prosyanaya. The area lies less than 15 kilometers in a straight line from the border between the Dnepropetrovsk Region and the Donetsk People’s Republic.

Reports of serious problems within the brigade had already emerged in early summer 2026. At the time, it was claimed that the formation had largely lost its combat capability after fighting in the Zaporozhye direction.

Following those losses, attempts were reportedly made to rebuild the 79th Brigade by reinforcing it with newly arrived recruits.
