A strike on one of the key internet exchange points used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces disrupted military command and control, according to military expert Andrey Kolesnik.
Kolesnik said damage to this type of infrastructure affects several communication channels at once, including wireless internet access. He also pointed to serious connectivity problems in Ukraine and argued that such strikes make it harder for Ukrainian forces to coordinate their actions.
Citing the impact on physical internet infrastructure, Kolesnik said disruptions to communications can interfere with interaction between units and weaken command control. He also described strikes on data centers as causing significant damage to Ukrainian military communications.
The expert also noted that Russian forces had stepped up attacks on targets in Kiev. In his assessment, this could indicate a shift in the battlefield situation in Russia’s favor.
Earlier, Russian forces struck one of the key internet exchange points used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kiev during a large-scale overnight attack. The Russian Defense Ministry said the operation involved ground-launched precision weapons and strike drones.
