Russia’s new Supercam S-180 reconnaissance drone has made its public debut at the ADEX 2026 international defense exhibition in Baku. Developed by the Unmanned Systems group of companies, the aircraft combines high speed with sharp maneuverability, NEWS.ru reported, citing company representative Ekaterina Zgirovskaya.
According to Zgirovskaya, the new UAV was designed with current conditions along the line of contact in mind. Experience with reconnaissance drones has shown that enemy aircraft are increasingly being used to ram and destroy them. Developers therefore turned to higher speed as one way to help the reconnaissance platform evade such attacks.
The Supercam S-180 features an afterburner mode that provides a short burst of acceleration when the drone needs to break away from pursuit. The system allows the aircraft to rapidly increase speed and perform evasive maneuvers.
Zgirovskaya also compared the new model with the Supercam S-350, one of the main reconnaissance UAVs used in the special military operation zone. The S-180 retains compatibility with the same types of payloads used by the company’s existing reconnaissance platform.
The drone can carry photo and video cameras, while its design also supports other payload options.
The Supercam S-180 was unveiled at the 6th ADEX International Defense Exhibition. The event is being held at the Baku Expo Center in the Azerbaijani capital from September 30 through October 2 and brings together 270 participants from different countries.
