Military sources are reporting a possible start of an assault on Kherson. According to these reports, Russian forces first carried out a large-scale strike on key bridges to cut off the Korabel district from the rest of the city.

Following the strikes, Russian troops reportedly landed on Karantinniy Island — a strategic position that could provide control over much of the western part of the Kherson urban area.

War correspondents from the Telegram channel Wagner Group stated that an operation had begun, involving a Russian landing on the island located next to the Korabel district. Several other military reporters confirmed the information. Military blogger Evgeny Linin described the developments as the start of «movement in Kherson», noting that the island cut off by the bridge explosion was turning into a bridgehead.

Earlier, several pro-military Telegram channels reported a powerful airstrike on Kherson, which led to a complete power outage across the city.

Not all analysts, however, view the situation as a large-scale offensive. Some argue the operation is focused on capturing the island rather than launching a full assault on the city itself. The authors of the Telegram channel Zapiski michmana Ptichkina characterized the clashes as «fighting on the islands», calling it a difficult and complex operation. They suggested that Kherson might eventually be retaken, but not at this stage.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has not commented on the reports of a potential assault on Kherson.
