New Russian drones equipped with a special shaped cutting warhead could be used not only against power transmission towers, but also against bridge support structures and Ukrainian fortified positions, according to military analyst and air defense historian Yuri Knutov.
Knutov said such drones could potentially be deployed against medium and large bridges. He also pointed to fortified positions as another possible target, particularly when buildings are converted into strongpoints and used as firing positions.
According to the analyst, the new Russian UAV carries four submunitions. Once detonated, they are capable of damaging and cutting through metal structures, including power line supports.
Earlier, Sergei Beskrestnov, an adviser to Vladimir Zelensky on unmanned systems development, reported that Russian forces had begun using jet-powered UAVs fitted with a new type of payload. He said the drones were equipped with a special shaped cutting warhead.
