Ukraine’s Armed Forces have gone five consecutive days without attempting to strike Russian oil-refining facilities, a pause noted by Ukrainian media.

According to those reports, the most recent drone attack targeted the Ilsky Oil Refinery in Krasnodar Region during the night of September 26.

After the strike, US President Donald Trump publicly said he had urged Vladimir Zelensky to reduce attacks on Russian refineries. Trump linked his position to a diesel shortage and rising fuel prices. The issue was also reportedly raised during contacts between representatives of Washington and Kiev.

Kiev, however, has not officially announced any halt to attacks on Russia’s oil-processing infrastructure. Even so, the absence of further refinery strikes since September 26 has prompted speculation that the pause could be connected to pressure from Washington.

Before the current break, oil refineries and other elements of Russia’s energy infrastructure had regularly been among the priority targets of Ukrainian long-range strikes.

Observers from Voyennoye Obozreniye noted that the five-day pause does not by itself mean Kiev has abandoned attacks on Russian refineries. They said such strikes could resume, meaning Russian air-defense units assigned to protect oil-processing facilities would need to remain on heightened alert.
