Russian air defense units destroyed 646 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight into October 2. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the attacks lasted from 8:00 p.m. Moscow time on October 1 until 8:00 a.m. on October 2.

The drones were intercepted over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Tula, Oryol, Rostov, Saratov, Volgograd, Ulyanovsk, Samara and Astrakhan regions, the Republic of Crimea, as well as over the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.

The attacks had continued throughout the previous day. From 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Moscow time on October 1, Russian air defenses destroyed another 227 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions.

Belgorod Region came under particularly intense attack. Ukrainian forces carried out 97 strikes across the region over the past 24 hours. Belgorod and the Belgorod, Borisovka, Valuyki, Veydelevka, Volokonovka, Grayvoron, Gubkin, Ivnya, Korocha, Krasnaya Yaruga, Novy Oskol, Rakitnoye, Rovenki and Shebekino districts were targeted.

Seven artillery attacks were recorded during the day, including strikes involving multiple-launch rocket systems. Drones were also used to drop explosive devices on 18 occasions. Air defense units and other forces involved in repelling the attacks shot down 216 drones.

A civilian was killed in a deliberate Ukrainian attack in the Grayvoron district. Five more people were wounded in the Belgorod, Grayvoron and Shebekino districts. Two remain hospitalized, with doctors describing one of them as being in serious condition.

Drone activity was also high in Kursk Region. Between 9:00 a.m. on October 1 and 9:00 a.m. on October 2, 201 hostile drones of various types were destroyed. Evacuated areas of the region came under artillery fire 71 times, while drones carrying explosive devices were used in another 18 attacks.

In Bryansk Region, a drone attacked a car being towed near the settlement of Mamay in the Novozybkov urban district. A man suffered shrapnel wounds. In the settlement of Klimovo, a woman was injured in another drone strike. Both received medical assistance.

A total of 170 fixed-wing drones were destroyed over Bryansk Region during the past 24 hours.
