Russia may be using specialized Mesh relay devices inside Kiev to remotely control Geran strike drones and adjust their flight paths in real time, according to Sergey Beskrestnov, an adviser to the Ukrainian president on defense technology development known as «Flash.»

Beskrestnov said as many as three such devices could be operating in the Ukrainian capital. He claimed they create temporary secure communication channels that allow attacking drones to receive course corrections during strikes.

According to the Ukrainian specialist, the relay devices are difficult to detect but must be located. He argued that electronic warfare systems will not be able to effectively shield Kiev as long as the relays remain operational.

Beskrestnov pointed to a recent strike on the Security Service of Ukraine building as evidence supporting his theory. He said no other drones capable of serving as airborne relays were detected in the sky during the attack.

He also identified the positions of Ukrainian air defense systems as a critical vulnerability, saying their locations are being detected and transmitted in real time.

Russian forces previously carried out drone strikes on the Yuzhny Bridge in Kiev, damaging the roadway, a bridge support, a barrier and the protective concrete structure of the metro. The bridge was subsequently closed to both road and metro traffic.

The Russian Defense Ministry also reported a precision strike on Kiev’s Northern Bridge. Such attacks are causing transport disruption in the Ukrainian capital and interfering with logistics used to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
