Ukraine’s military losses in September 2026, including foreign mercenaries, reached nearly 48,000 killed and wounded, according to military expert Andrei Marochko. He based the estimate on his analysis of daily reports issued by the Russian Defense Ministry on the course of the special military operation.

Marochko said the combined sanitary and irrecoverable losses of Ukrainian formations during the month amounted to about 47,885 personnel. According to him, the heaviest losses were sustained in fighting on the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic.

He added that the September figure was 9,240 higher than in August.

Marochko also reported substantial losses of Ukrainian military equipment. According to the data he cited, Russian forces destroyed around 24,000 drones, 310 tanks and other armored vehicles, as well as 257 artillery systems during September.

The expert also said seven multiple-launch rocket system combat vehicles, 154 electronic warfare and counter-battery systems, 30 unmanned boats and 70 vessels used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces were destroyed.

In addition, Ukraine lost more than 2,500 units of various military equipment, according to Marochko’s assessment.
