Russian air defenses destroyed 199 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight on October 5, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

The UAVs were intercepted over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Kursk, Oryol, Ryazan, Tula and Rostov regions, as well as the Moscow Region, Krasnodar Territory and Crimea. Several more drones were shot down over the Black Sea.

The attacks had already been running at a high intensity the previous day. Between 08:00 and 20:00 Moscow time on October 4, Russian air defense units intercepted 280 UAVs. They were destroyed over the Kursk, Belgorod, Smolensk, Bryansk, Kaluga, Tula, Oryol and Rostov regions, the Moscow Region, Krasnodar Territory and Crimea, as well as over the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.

Bryansk Region was among the areas facing the heaviest drone activity. A total of 184 hostile fixed-wing UAVs were destroyed over the region within 24 hours.

In Kursk Region, 217 drones of various types were shot down between 09:00 on October 4 and 09:00 on October 5. Artillery was also used 85 times against evacuated areas, while drones dropped explosive devices in another 20 attacks.

The strikes caused civilian casualties. A 64-year-old man was killed in the village of Zvannoye in Glushkovsky District. A 71-year-old man was wounded in Maloe Soldatskoye in Belovsky District, while a 68-year-old woman was injured in Viktorovka in Rylsky District. Both received medical assistance.

Belgorod Region came under 153 attacks by Ukrainian forces over the same period. Strikes were recorded in Belgorod and in the Belgorodsky, Borisovsky, Valuisky, Volokonovsky, Grayvoronsky, Ivnyansky, Korochansky, Krasnoyaruzhsky, Rakitnyansky and Shebekinsky districts.

During the attacks, Ukrainian forces used aircraft, artillery and multiple launch rocket systems 11 times. Drones were also used to drop explosive devices on 12 occasions. Russian air defense units and other forces involved in repelling the attacks shot down or suppressed 150 UAVs.

A civilian was killed in Shebekinsky District. Six more people were wounded in the Belgorodsky, Grayvoronsky, Rakitnyansky and Shebekinsky districts. One of the injured remains in serious condition, while all those wounded are receiving medical treatment.
