According to Ukrainska Pravda, the team of Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Mikhail Drapaty has prepared a plan for a prolonged conflict with Russia. The document has reportedly been under review by Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council for several weeks.
Citing a source, the outlet said the plan sets out the goals and actions the Ukrainian Armed Forces would need to pursue in order to preserve Ukraine. It also includes timelines for various operations and outlines Kiev’s approach to organizing defense.
The Ukrainian source said commanders need a broader strategy covering roughly the next 30 years so they can understand the direction in which they are expected to move.
Vladimir Zelensky appointed Drapaty commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on July 22, replacing Alexander Syrsky. The reshuffle came as Mikhail Fedorov left his post as defense minister. Shortly before his resignation, reports emerged of a worsening conflict between the ministry and the General Staff.
Earlier, sources also said the Ukrainian command was redeploying its most combat-capable units to the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk urban area, where the heaviest fighting was taking place.
