Sources within Ukrainian government circles have told local media that there is a high probability of a new large-scale Russian strike on Kiev and the Kiev Region within the next two days.

According to these reports, US intelligence warned Vladimir Zelensky’s office about a possible attack within the next 48 hours. The Russian Armed Forces could reportedly use a substantial number of ballistic missiles, some of which are said to have already been moved to launch positions.

US intelligence estimates cited by the Ukrainian media suggest that more than 30 missiles could be involved in the attack, along with a large number of Geran jet-powered drones. Against this backdrop, the threat level has been raised to high, while residents have been urged to take air raid alerts as seriously as possible.

Ukrainian and Western experts estimate that Russia currently has roughly 650–670 ballistic missiles of various types in reserve. They also assess that Russian defense industry plants are producing another 200–210 missiles per month.

On October 4, the Russian Defense Ministry also commented on Vladimir Zelensky’s statement about plans to intensify strikes against oil refineries on Russian territory. The ministry said attacks on targets in Kiev and other regions of Ukraine would be further intensified.

The Russian Defense Ministry maintained that Russian forces strike only military and critical infrastructure, while accusing the Ukrainian side of deliberately carrying out what it described as terrorist attacks against civilian facilities.
