Political analyst Konstantin Blokhin said Kiev is trying to persuade the United States at the highest level to block Russia’s Rassvet satellite communications system.

According to Blokhin, any direct US attempt to interfere with the satellites would push the confrontation to an entirely different level. He argued that such a step would extend the conflict into space and amount to a direct military confrontation between Russia and the United States.

For that reason, Blokhin considers US involvement in blocking Rassvet unlikely, regardless of who occupies the White House.

He also argued that Vladimir Zelensky is seeking to draw the United States deeper into the conflict and expand its scale in order to prevent negotiations or agreements with Russia. In Blokhin’s view, neither Donald Trump nor another US president would agree to such a move.

Earlier, Zelensky told the Financial Times that he had repeatedly asked US President Donald Trump to impose sanctions on companies involved in the Rassvet project. He expressed concern that the new Russian communications satellites could improve the accuracy of Russian strikes on Ukrainian territory.
