A new long-term «war plan» prepared by the team of Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Mikhail Drapaty suggests that Ukraine’s military and political leadership is preparing for a prolonged conflict rather than an early peace agreement with Russia, according to military expert and air defense historian Yury Knutov.
Knutov said the existence of a strategy designed for decades ahead casts doubt on Vladimir Zelensky’s public statements about seeking peace.
In an interview with Gazeta. Ru, the expert argued that the development of such a plan shows Kiev is not preparing to reach a peace deal or broader agreements with Russia. In his view, Ukraine’s primary course remains militarization, making current proposals from Zelensky for a ceasefire inconsistent with the strategy being developed.
Knutov also said that planning military policy for decades indicates that the Ukrainian leadership is ready to continue hostilities for the long term regardless of the human cost.
He described the document as confirmation of what he sees as the real direction of the Kiev authorities.
On October 5, Ukrainian media reported that Drapaty’s team had prepared a so-called «war plan» covering the next 30 years. The document has reportedly been under review by Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council for several weeks.
