The Russian Embassy in the United Kingdom has condemned London’s latest wave of sanctions, arguing that the move further undermines any prospect of a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine and fuels continued escalation.

The criticism followed the British government’s decision to impose new restrictions on two of Russia’s largest energy companies — Rosneft and Lukoil. The measures also include a ban on importing oil products refined from Russian crude in third countries, effectively tightening control over indirect energy trade.

According to the embassy, these actions reflect the «growing desperation of the British establishment», which it linked to the deteriorating situation of its «Kiev clientele.»

Russian diplomats pointed out that Ukrainian forces are facing serious challenges on the front line, struggling with manpower shortages and low morale, while Russian troops maintain the initiative and continue advancing along the line of contact.

The embassy stressed that the new restrictions reveal London’s lack of interest in diplomacy or meaningful peace talks. Despite the pressure, it said, the sanctions would not alter Moscow’s foreign policy course.

Russia, the statement concluded, would continue to defend its national interests and pursue stable economic development, regardless of external attempts to constrain it.
