Russian air defenses destroyed 868 Ukrainian aircraft-type drones during the night of October 6, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

The UAVs were intercepted over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Oryol, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tver and Tula regions, as well as the Moscow region and Crimea. Drones were also shot down over the Sea of Azov.

The attacks had already been running at a high intensity the previous day. Between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Moscow time on October 5, Russian air defenses destroyed another 343 Ukrainian UAVs.

Belgorod region was among the areas facing sustained attacks. Governor Alexander Shuvaev said Ukrainian forces targeted the region 137 times over the past 24 hours. Strikes were recorded in Belgorod and in the Belgorod, Borisovka, Valuyki, Veydelevka, Volokonovka, Grayvoron, Ivnya, Krasnaya Yaruga, Novy Oskol, Rakitnoye, Shebekino and Yakovlevo districts.

During the same period, three artillery attacks were recorded, along with five drops of explosive devices from drones. Air defense crews and other units involved in countering the attacks destroyed or suppressed 185 UAVs.

Eleven civilians were wounded in the Valuyki, Grayvoron, Rakitnoye and Shebekino districts. Two of them were reported to be in serious condition and were receiving medical care.

Kursk region also came under heavy attack. Between 9:00 a.m. on October 5 and 9:00 a.m. on October 6, 260 drones of various types were shot down. Governor Alexander Khinshtein also reported 39 artillery attacks on evacuated areas and 20 drone strikes involving explosive devices.

Thirteen people were injured in those attacks. Six were wounded in Kursk, one man in the village of Biryukovka in the Bolshesoldatsky district, four people in the village of Viktorovka in the Rylsky district, and two men in the village of Zhedenovka in the Khomutovsky district.

Bryansk region faced another large-scale drone assault. A total of 504 aircraft-type UAVs were destroyed over the region in 24 hours. Governor Yegor Kovalchuk said two civilians were wounded in the settlement of Belaya Berezka in the Trubchevsky district.

The Moscow region also reported casualties and property damage. Governor Andrey Vorobyov said air defense units and electronic warfare systems destroyed 185 drones over 16 municipalities during the night.

Two people were killed and nine others were injured. The attack also damaged 47 private homes across seven municipalities in the Moscow region.
