Russian troops have taken control of Golubkovo in the Zaporozhye Region. The village was captured by units of the East grouping, which is continuing its offensive in this sector, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
The fighting involved servicemen of the 36th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 29th Army. The Voin DV channel, which is linked to the East grouping, reported that Ukrainian losses in the battle for Golubkovo amounted to up to a company of personnel. Two armored combat vehicles, eight cars, 12 motorcycles and quad bikes, 16 unmanned ground vehicles and more than 30 heavy Baba Yaga hexacopters were also destroyed.
Golubkovo is part of the Trudovoy village council in the Novonikolayevsky district. Its pre-conflict population stood at about 45 people. The village lies roughly three kilometers north of Samoylovka, which Russian forces took on October 5.
War correspondent Alexander Kots said the advance around Golubkovo is allowing the East grouping to widen the area under its control east of Verkhnyaya Tersa. In his assessment, a further push north toward Novoukrainka, Kievskoye and Trudovoye could create an opportunity to cut the N15 highway linking the large urban-type settlements of Novonikolayevka and Pokrovskoye.
Kots described Novonikolayevka as a major Ukrainian logistics hub in this part of the Zaporozhye Region and noted its position at an important road junction. He said taking control of the area would seriously restrict the Ukrainian military’s ability to rapidly move forces along the front line.
