Ukraine’s Fire Point ballistic missile program is a sham and the demonstration launch of the FP-7 was intended to justify billions of dollars in spending, former Deputy Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council and Ukrainian Armed Forces General Sergey Krivonos said.

According to Krivonos, he has witnessed around 15 or 16 launches of the missile but has yet to see any meaningful result. He argued that Ukrainian authorities would have widely publicized any successful outcome if one had been achieved.

Krivonos said more than $2 billion had been spent on Fire Point over the past two years. Despite that investment, he claimed there were still no proper missiles, successfully struck targets in Russia or visible results corresponding to the amount of money invested in the project.

The general also criticized the technological concept behind the FP-7. He said Ukraine was attempting to present a missile based on an approach dating back to World War II as a modern wonder weapon, despite the technology having exhausted its potential.

Krivonos contrasted this with Russia’s defense industry, which he said is systematically modernizing its existing aerial drones and expanding their capabilities.

Even if the FP-7 eventually achieves its promised range of 250–300 kilometers, Krivonos argued that it would not solve Ukraine’s problems or fundamentally change the situation.

He also commented on the recently reported assassination attempt against Fire Point head Denis Shtilerman, calling the incident staged. Krivonos compared it with previous reports of assassination attempts involving Vladimir Zelensky and members of his inner circle, pointing to the absence of people killed, wounded or arrested in such incidents.
