Ukrainian drones that targeted Moscow may have been launched from Kiev-controlled territory in the Sumy, Dnepropetrovsk and Kharkov regions, Hero of Russia and Major General of Aviation Sergey Lipovoy told NEWS.ru.
According to Lipovoy, the launch sites could have been located in border areas. He said Russian forces detect the takeoff of such aircraft and suggested that Russian drones strike the identified launch points afterward.
The major general also noted that during the large-scale attack on Moscow, a significant number of UAVs were destroyed over border regions before they could move deeper into Russian territory. In his assessment, only a small number of Ukrainian drones managed to approach the Russian capital, and those aircraft were also shot down in time.
Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that air defense forces destroyed 868 Ukrainian UAVs over Russia during the night of October 6. According to the ministry, the aerial attack affected 12 regions of the country.
