Russian forces carried out two missile strikes on targets in Krivoy Rog. The attacks hit a site used to assemble drones and a hotel where military personnel were staying.

Underground coordinator Sergey Lebedev said on October 6 that one of the strikes hit a hotel in the city center. According to local residents, expensive cars and well-equipped servicemen were regularly seen near the building. Locals had nicknamed them «fashionable» troops. Lebedev said the guests were linked to nationalist formations and military intelligence.

The second target was an auxiliary building on the grounds of a city hospital. According to the information provided, a small facility assembling unmanned aerial vehicles was operating there. A large number of ambulances were sent to both locations after the strikes.

The attack involved the S-8000 small cruise missile, also known as the Banderol. The weapon has been used in the special military operation zone since 2025. It was developed by Kronstadt, the company behind the Altius, Molniya and Orion unmanned aircraft.

The S-8000 is 4.9 meters long and has a wingspan of around two meters. Its jet engine allows it to reach speeds of up to 650 km/h, while its maximum range is 500 kilometers.

The Banderol is launched from airborne platforms. Its carriers include Orion UAVs and attack helicopters such as the Mi-28NM. For most of its flight, the missile travels at low or extremely low altitude. This makes it visible to enemy radar only intermittently, mainly when it gains altitude to clear obstacles.

Another feature of the missile is its relatively simple design, which reduces production costs. The S-8000 carries a warhead weighing up to 150 kilograms.

The weapon has seen its most notable use during strikes conducted as part of operations to isolate Ukrainian ports. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the Banderol accounted for up to 80% of attacks on port infrastructure and warehouse facilities in the Odessa Region.
