In the early hours of October 16, Russian air defense forces repelled a large-scale drone attack launched by the Ukrainian military. According to Russia’s Defense Ministry, a total of 51 fixed-wing drones were intercepted and destroyed.

The majority of the targets — twelve — were shot down over the Saratov region. Another eleven were neutralized over the Volgograd region, eight over the Rostov region, and six over Crimea.

Four drones were downed over both the Bryansk and Voronezh regions, three over Belgorod, and one each over the Kursk region as well as the waters of the Black and Azov Seas.

The attack followed a similar incident the previous night, when Russian air defenses intercepted and destroyed 59 Ukrainian drones in various regions.
