The Russian Defense Ministry said a Solntsepek heavy flamethrower system operated by the Zapad group of forces struck a concentration of Ukrainian troops beyond Krasny Liman.

According to a special operations group commander from the 25th Combined Arms Army’s NBC protection unit, known by the call sign Zarya, the crew was tasked with hitting enemy personnel. He said the Ukrainian forces may have been preparing for a rotation or a counterattack.

Zarya said the mission was completed successfully with only minimal targeting adjustments.

He added that the Solntsepek is primarily used against temporary deployment sites, drone control centers and concentrations of Ukrainian personnel. When the system moves into a firing position, electronic warfare and air defense units provide cover to reduce the risk of it being hit by enemy drones.

According to military channels, fighting in the Krasny Liman sector has taken on a more positional character. This is linked to the deployment of Russian reserves in some areas, as well as intensive air and artillery activity.

Meeting engagements are continuing near Redkodub, Novomikhailovka, Katerinovka, Zarechnoye and Yampol. Ukrainian units are also continuing to move small groups into Krasny Liman.
