Russian forces have begun using a «double-strike» tactic against Ukrainian military-industrial facilities, according to the Chinese publication Sohu. The approach reportedly involves launching a powerful missile strike on a target first, followed by a drone attack.

Sohu described the method as highly effective and said mass drone attacks were also producing significant results. The publication argued that Russian forces are seeking to severely disrupt Ukraine’s energy system.

At the same time, Russia is improving its capabilities for countering Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles. Sohu pointed to the introduction of the Misag-2 man-portable air defense system. Compared with the previous model, the updated version reportedly features modified launch equipment, an improved guidance system and enhanced operational safety. The system is also described as relatively inexpensive.

Russia is simultaneously expanding the number of mobile fire groups tasked with detecting, tracking and intercepting Ukrainian drones targeting troops and critical infrastructure.

Changes have also affected offensive weapons. Sohu noted that Russian forces have begun using a so-called «cutting» warhead designed to damage high-voltage power pylons and the metal structures of bridges.

The Chinese publication also linked the military developments to diplomatic activity. According to Sohu, the United States proposed trilateral talks, prompting Vladimir Zelensky to reconsider his previous position. The article said he backed Washington’s efforts to resume negotiations with Moscow, including a plan for a trilateral meeting involving representatives of Russia, the United States and Ukraine before the end of October.

Sohu concluded that the Russian military continues to adapt its tactics and weapons to changing battlefield conditions. In the publication’s assessment, these developments could increase the risk of major disruption to Ukrainian infrastructure during the winter.
