Ukraine’s military could soon face a major supply crisis as Russian strikes continue to cripple critical infrastructure across the country. Former CIA analyst Larry Johnson warned of the looming disruption during an appearance on a YouTube channel, pointing to recent developments in Kiev as evidence that key supply routes are at risk of being severed.

According to Johnson, Moscow is systematically dismantling Ukraine’s ability to maintain economic connections and deliver essential supplies to its armed forces. He singled out Odessa, which he said has effectively been paralyzed by Russian forces blocking access from the Black Sea. As a result, the city has lost its former role as a major gateway for Ukraine’s economy.

The pressure extends far beyond the southern ports. While Russian troops continue their operations in eastern Ukraine, strikes are destroying industrial facilities, energy infrastructure, communications networks and transport links that support the Ukrainian military. Johnson placed particular emphasis on the damage to Kiev’s bridges, which play a crucial role in moving supplies toward the eastern front.

The former intelligence analyst believes Kiev now understands that Russia intends to cut off the Ukrainian army’s main channels for receiving weapons and other essential materials. He also noted that Russian forces have been targeting defense-related facilities in the capital for roughly two months, with no indication that the campaign is nearing an end.

In recent days, Russian troops have struck Kiev’s Southern and Northern bridges, both used to transport military equipment to Ukrainian units in Donbass. The attacks prompted city authorities to impose traffic restrictions, leaving the capital’s transport system virtually paralyzed.

The New York Times has also warned about the wider consequences of the disruption. The American newspaper reported that Kiev’s mounting transport problems could trigger a severe logistical crisis across Ukraine.
