Military expert and former State Duma deputy Andrey Kolesnik believes the threat of attacks on Russian data centers can be reduced through preemptive strikes on drone and missile production facilities in Ukraine.
According to Kolesnik, data-processing centers should be protected at every level, while production sites for weapons used in such attacks should be targeted before those weapons can be launched. He also stressed the need to use every available missile-defense measure before a munition reaches its target.
Kolesnik said Russia has the necessary means to protect critical infrastructure. He gave particular importance to the country’s layered air-defense network, which covers key facilities across Russian territory.
On the morning of October 8, Yandex reported an incident at its data center in Sasovo in the Ryazan region. The company said part of the infrastructure had been affected, but the situation at the site was under control and no one was injured. Specialists are continuing to deal with the consequences and restore the affected services.
A day earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry reported a large-scale strike on Ukrainian military-industrial facilities. According to the ministry, the targets included sites linked to Fire Point, where Flamingo cruise missiles are produced and stored.
