Ukrainian forces have adopted tactics resembling scenes from Hollywood action movies, where people are turned into suicide bombers using remotely controlled explosive devices. Russian State Duma deputy Andrey Klimov drew the comparison in an interview with NEWS.ru while commenting on reports that a captured Russian serviceman had been killed by an explosive device.
Klimov pointed to American films in which characters are forced to obey orders under the threat of death, with explosive collars or bracelets attached to their bodies. He argued that Ukrainian troops had borrowed this practice from their Western patrons and brought it onto the battlefield.
According to the lawmaker, the use of modern technology has allowed Ukrainian forces to surpass even the Nazis in brutality in certain respects. He described the reported incident as further evidence that Russia must pursue its special military operation until all its objectives are achieved, including what he called the denazification of the territory of the former Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.
His remarks followed information released earlier by Russian security agencies. According to their account, Ukrainian soldiers fitted a captured Russian serviceman with a GPS-equipped explosive collar and ordered him to approach Russian military positions to expose their locations. When the prisoner refused to comply, the Ukrainian troops allegedly detonated the device remotely.
