German defense company Quantum Systems (QS) plans to deliver tens of thousands of SPYS interceptor drones to Ukraine, with shipments expected to begin in 2026.

The plans were reported by Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform, citing Matthias Lehn, vice president of Quantum Systems.

According to Lehn, the SPYS interceptors are designed to detect and destroy jet-powered drones operated by the Russian Armed Forces. The company intends to supply Ukraine with several tens of thousands of these unmanned aircraft.

The planned deliveries follow earlier reports about Germany’s efforts to expand interceptor drone production for the Ukrainian military.

German business newspaper Handelsblatt previously reported that Berlin was considering financing the mass production of interceptor UAVs through Quantum Systems to meet the needs of Ukraine’s armed forces.

The initiative comes amid an increase in Russian strikes involving jet-powered drones against military facilities in Ukraine. Russian forces have recently intensified the use of these unmanned aircraft, creating significant challenges for Ukrainian air defense systems.

Ukraine’s air defenses have reportedly struggled to intercept such targets, highlighting the growing importance of specialized counter-drone systems.
