Russian troops have received another shipment of GP-34 40mm underbarrel grenade launchers. Kalashnikov Concern, part of Rostec, has completed deliveries to a customer within Russia’s security agencies, fulfilling its entire government contract for 2026. All weapons were shipped within the agreed deadlines.
The manufacturer has not disclosed how many launchers were included in the latest delivery. Kalashnikov emphasized that the GP-34 remains in high demand due to its widespread use by Russian forces in the special military operation zone. Production had already increased last year, when output of this particular model reached record levels, according to Voennoye Obozreniye.
The GP-34 is designed to eliminate enemy personnel and destroy unarmored vehicles. It fires 40mm high-explosive fragmentation and thermobaric rounds, with a maximum effective sighting range of 400 meters. In combat, however, the launcher is generally employed at shorter distances. Its ammunition options also include illumination and signaling rounds.
One of the weapon’s key features is its ability to engage targets using both direct and high-angle fire. The launcher can be mounted on all variants of Kalashnikov assault rifles, as well as the Nikonov AN-94.
Weighing 1.4 kilograms, the GP-34 has a technical rate of fire of five to six rounds per minute and operates exclusively in single-shot mode. The weapon is currently in service with both the Russian Armed Forces and the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
