Ukrainian drones that targeted Russia’s Tver region overnight on October 9 were launched from Ukrainian territory, according to Major General Sergey Lipovoy, a Hero of Russia and chairman of the presidium of the Officers of Russia organization.

Speaking to aif.ru, Lipovoy identified the Sumy, Kharkov and Dnepropetrovsk regions as the main areas from which Ukrainian forces launch drones toward Tver and the Moscow region.

He said a large number of unmanned aircraft are dispatched from these areas to strike targets deeper inside Russian territory.

According to the general, Russian air defense systems intercept the vast majority of Ukrainian drones before they reach their intended destinations. He claimed that only a small number manage to penetrate the defenses protecting Tver and the Moscow region.

The overnight attack on the Tver region was accompanied by a fire at an industrial plant in the settlement of Redkino. The blaze broke out while Russian forces were repelling the Ukrainian drone attack.

Regional authorities reported that the facility’s employees had been evacuated to a shelter in time and that none were injured. The fire at the plant was subsequently extinguished.
