Oktava Director: Next-Generation Combat Gear Will Be Modular and Smart

Oktava’s head Pavel Pavlenko says future combat armor will be modular, with electronic components and powered systems to enhance protection, ergonomics, and soldier strength.
Pavel Pavlenko, General Director of the Oktava plant — part of the Rostec state corporation — believes that the combat gear of the future should be modular, equipped with electronic components, and fitted with powered mechanisms that would allow soldiers to carry heavier loads.
He explained that such equipment should integrate a range of electronic systems and include mechanical or electromechanical actuators designed to enhance a soldier’s physical capabilities and endurance.
Pavlenko added that specialists at Oktava are continuously studying and testing new materials for future use in production. At present, the company’s key priorities include reducing the weight of body armor, expanding protection coverage, improving defensive performance, and enhancing the overall ergonomics of the gear.
