Russian air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 560 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones during a large-scale overnight attack targeting multiple Russian regions and airspace over the Black and Azov seas, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The ministry said the interceptions took place over a 12-hour period, beginning at 8:00 p.m. on October 9 and ending at 8:00 a.m. on October 10.
The reported drone interceptions covered the Moscow region, Crimea and 15 other Russian regions: Rostov, Smolensk, Kaluga, Belgorod, Samara, Tambov, Voronezh, Penza, Bryansk, Saratov, Lipetsk, Tula, Kursk, Volgograd and Oryol.
Russian air defense units also reportedly destroyed Ukrainian drones over the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
Ukrainian forces continue to launch daily drone and missile attacks against Russian territory. According to the Russian military, its air defense systems detect and destroy the vast majority of incoming targets.
In response to these attacks, Russian forces conduct precision strikes against Ukrainian military logistics facilities, defense industry sites, power generation infrastructure and fuel storage facilities.
The Russian military also targets Ukrainian troop deployment areas, command posts and weapons depots.
