The rapid development of drones and ground-based robotic systems has fundamentally transformed battlefield tactics since 2022, according to a Russian serviceman known by the call sign Predator.
Speaking to RT war correspondent Yulia Martovalieva, Predator, who commands a reconnaissance and strike drone company in the Russian Armed Forces, described the changes in modern combat tactics as enormous.
He explained that both Russian forces and their opponents are constantly introducing new technologies and deploying increasingly diverse types of drones, significantly changing how military operations are conducted.
Unmanned warfare is no longer limited to aerial systems. Ground robotic platforms are also being deployed along the line of contact, including vehicles equipped with explosives and ammunition.
Predator described one of his unit’s first experiences with this technology. Several months after the company began operating, its personnel deployed a ground-based kamikaze robotic vehicle in combat for the first time.
The unmanned ground vehicle was fitted with anti-tank mines, giving its warhead an explosive yield of approximately 100 kilograms of TNT equivalent.
The deployment illustrates how unmanned platforms and robotic weapons have become part of the changing battlefield tactics described by the Russian commander.
