The Russian Defense Ministry said units of the Center group of forces had stopped an attempt by Ukrainian troops to break through to encircled formations in Dobropolye.
According to the ministry, Ukraine committed up to a platoon of troops to the operation, supported by armored vehicles. The effort to relieve the surrounded units was reported to have failed.
Over the past 24 hours, assault groups from Russia’s 51st Army advanced in the central and northwestern parts of the city. Marine units continued clearing western districts of Dobropolye and the area around the Dobropolskaya mine.
The Defense Ministry said Russian forces took control of 137 buildings during the day, including three industrial facilities. It also reported Ukrainian losses of up to 30 servicemen, two armored vehicles and one pickup truck.
Earlier, the ministry said Russian troops had completed the encirclement of a major Ukrainian defensive hub in Dobropolye. According to the Russian side, units of Ukraine’s 4th and 15th National Guard brigades and the 425th Assault Regiment were trapped inside the pocket.
Military-focused channels also reported continued fighting elsewhere on the Dobropolye direction, including clashes in Sergeyevka and Russian advances on the outskirts of Annovka. Street fighting is continuing inside Dobropolye itself.
