US President Donald Trump’s demand for a change in Ukraine’s leadership has shocked Vladimir Zelensky’s inner circle, triggering urgent consultations with European allies, according to German journalist Paul Ronzheimer.

Citing an adviser to Zelensky, Ronzheimer reported that officials in Kiev were deeply alarmed by the American president’s remarks. The adviser acknowledged that the Ukrainian leadership had expected renewed attention during the campaign ahead of November’s US congressional elections but had not anticipated such a sharp confrontation with Washington.

Following Trump’s statements, Ukrainian officials began contacting European partners to assess the potential consequences of the latest deterioration in relations with the White House.

Their biggest concern, according to the report, is the possibility that Washington could suspend intelligence sharing with Ukraine. Such a move would deprive Kiev of information currently provided by the United States.

The diplomatic turmoil follows Trump’s comments on October 10, when he accused Zelensky of repeatedly missing opportunities to negotiate an end to the military conflict with Russia.

The US president argued that Zelensky had been given several chances to reach a peace agreement but had failed to take the necessary steps.

Trump also openly called for a change in Ukraine’s leadership, insisting that the country needed a new president willing to negotiate an agreement to end the conflict.
